Moodboard Integration and Material Selection Training in the Standardization of the Creative Fashion Design Process for Fashion Design Vocational School Students
Main Article Content
Abstract
Fashion design learning in vocational institutions and small-scale entrepreneurs remains predominantly focused on technical production skills, often neglecting the systematic alignment between visual concepts and material selection. Consequently, a gap occurs where the final garment does not match the initial design concept in the custom fashion design industry. To address this issue, this community service activity aims to transfer science and technology through training and mentoring on creative process standardization based on the integration of moodboards and material selection. The implementation method was carried out in the form of interactive workshops, digital moodboard creation demonstrations, mentoring on fabric material characteristics analysis, and evaluating final product suitability. Target partners in this program were guided to explore ideas and communicate them structurally. The results of the community service show a significant increase in the partners' creative capacity. The integration of moodboards as a visual medium proved effective in helping partners organize references for color, texture, and style concretely. Meanwhile, material selection mentoring successfully enhanced partners' understanding of fabric drape, elasticity, and comfort according to the planned concept. This community service activity successfully established a standardized workflow capable of minimizing design misinterpretation while providing a concrete contribution to developing practical learning models relevant to modern fashion industry needs
