Earthquake And Tsunami Disaster Response Education To Create A Preparedness Attitude In School-Age Children

Abstract

Educating early childhood about disaster response is crucial, ensuring it's fully implemented. We don't know when a disaster will strike, as it's a divine secret. Therefore, we must provide this knowledge, including information about natural disasters like floods, earthquakes, and even tsunamis. To address disasters, we must equip young children with disaster knowledge, whether through literacy simulations or audiovisual materials. Generally, children from Gen Z and below are more likely to absorb and appreciate knowledge through audiovisual materials, as with today's technological advancements, they are more interested and understand it easily. Furthermore, they are quicker to demonstrate their knowledge by observing the education they receive through audiovisual materials. Our National Disaster Mitigation (PNP) team strives to provide this knowledge through practical simulations accompanied by music through audiovisual materials. We aim to engage students in disaster response education, as only we can save ourselves when disaster strikes. Therefore, we direct this education towards early childhood, preventing fear and panic when disaster strikes.
